" It's eight years later."

Even more reason to forecast higher for QCOM! We all know China moves at a slow pace, and in this case, was pushing their "brand" at the expense of time. Eight years later, they have have now decided to go ahead.

The positives for QCOM are overwhelming. China Telecom is the second largest telecom company in China, and has the total motivation to make CDMA a huge success, since its landline business will only shrink with time. It has the resources, telecom base, and backing of the government to do just that. Of great significance is the term "strategic tieup" of the two companies and the reiteration of 4% royalties, whereas most analysts (Merrill-Lynch for example) are assuming much less. The enormity of the numbers in China for which QCOM appears to receive Royality and Chip business dwarfs other new income potential.
