Expectations - the same could be said about followers in a congregation or a political rally. If the main figure under the lights is huffin' and puffin' and rantin' and ravin' about the evil, nasty Others out there, and makin' fun of what they say and do and cursin' 'em to tarnation for all their evil ways.... ...there's a good chance the followers are going to walk away thinking the same, and dividing society even more along racial or political or religious lines. Dignity and respect are powerful lessons for adolescents and grownups.
