But Finance Minister Jim Flaherty quickly dismissed such fears.

We all love Jim Flaherty, he's so reassuring and trustworthy.

The finance minister noted that the Statistics Canada report showed the economy would have expanded slightly but for a decline in auto sector production.

I also love "but for" gotchas. Like - there is no inflation, but for non-essentials like food and energy.

Inflation has hit the popcorn stands at the local movies in this hick town, 4 bucks for a small, wonder how much that would be a barrel?

(and the movie - Indiana Jones - would have been fun but for interminable fights and chases. Boring.)
