One reason the Labor Party won the last election here was because they were seen as more credible than the Liberals on environmental policy. There is no tide turning against "Greenism" in the developed economies. Quite the opposite. And the same is true of developing economies like China. Your mindset is fixed in some obsolete state in these matters...

Well, I was a professor of economics and our students generally got good jobs if the student was good material themselves. My wife got a PhD in "environmental science" from the super greenie University of Vermont and has a good job here. Her research is funded by agricultural industry groups. I'm in the process of getting one of my grads (from the same city in China) a job here too - looks about 50/50 chance he'll get it. Currently he is a postdoc at a business school in the US.

For the undergrads there were plenty of jobs in New York City.... this year's crop may be having a tougher time.
