Odd. Here, the local price was 1.10 to 1.18 in 2006 and is now at 1.35 (Diesel and 98 Octane). What we see here is less "competition". We did have a history of "free" debranded pumps but they have been bought out by the brands.

So the discounters are gone and price discipline is higher. Maybe, this also contributed to perceived inflation.
