I got my certification for my 50th bday. The boys had just gotten theirs and I wanted to be able to dive with them. I did my cert. dive at Lake travis, Tx. and let me tell you, it was UGLY. Visibility about 5 feet. One fish they hired to swim back and forth so you would think you were seeing marine life.

Catalina was nothing but seaweed.

But we did some lovely dives on Turks and Caicos, Hawaii, St Thomas, and in Mex. Then I developed a chronic cough and didn't feel confident enough to keep going.
My brother is a Dive Master, and is currently spending two weeks in the Caymans. He is my age, and says he is wiped out after diving all morning every day, but he's in heaven. Of course, he's a CPA in real life, so anything must be better. :)

Just over 100 dives here and not much the last few years; we did most of ours off Mauritius and some off the Seychelles, but we have done France, Mexico and the Keys too.

In Mauritius, we knew a local guy away from the big hotels who gave us great attention and discount rates. Last time we were back there, we actually went out with his son, who took over the business most of the time.

The big factory-style dive boats off the Keys were a total turn-off in comparison.
