I believe I have stated over and over that it is a shared responsibility for the problem. I will not take the time to go look. As for high mileage cars - yes - Detroit can make them but with higher labor costs the margins will not be there.

We are looking to get a new car as the lease on our LaCrosse expires in July. We have one small car and need one full sized one. The LaCrosse is 200 in - the Accord is 194 and is the biggest of the popular imports. I have not found a $30K full sized import. The Lexus is hugely expensive. I have not priced the others.

The point is - Detroit is well positioned in the larger cars. Toyota and Honda are well positioned in all sizes smaller. We did look at the Saturn Aura - but it is not big enough.
