Good point. Brooks says today that republicans on the economy as relating to the middle class woes is clueless at this time while the dems have given much thought to their newest new deal. He says repubs are intellectually bankrupt on this issue and implies that running on tax cuts alone will be seen as ridiculous. The Brit cons are making a case for bottom up solutions of todays problems while labor is top down. It is interesting that in this regard that obama speeches hint that he as a community organizer sees bottom up as the way to go like the Tories. Republicans are brain dead party and their only issue is security and FP. They will get walloped in congress but still may be able to squeak out a win for the presidency despite the generic poll numbers.

The world has lots of successful liberal democracies. Multi-ethnic ones included.

Canada for one. India for another. Plenty others.

If you were referring to the Muslim world, that would be a new thing there. But desirable if it can be done. A successful example would help spur more.
