We are splitting hairs. Please tell him that you can conceive of a possibility that they did cooperate tactically at times for mutual tactical interests. Very narrow stuff like agreed to transit across territory etc. Officially? Who knows. Did somebody in Iran once help someone in al Qaeda? Almost certainly. Did someone in the US once help someone in al Qaeda? Almost certainly. That doesn't make us allies. It's when David Ray goes into his "thoroughly documented" routine and doesn't provide a single document that the BS alarms go off.
