That's not what I thought I said. I had been arguing that criticism is unavoidable and inherent to the the topic of this thread and I offered the Hummer discussion as an example of such natural criticism. If criticism is to be disallowed less someone feel disrespected, then the Hummer discussion would be out of bounds because it was, indeed, disrespectful to Hummer owners, bless their gas-guzzling hearts.

Conversely, if it's OK to be critical of Hummer ownership, then it logically must be OK to be critical of any of our pet issues and practices and their advocates.
