I think you get my point. There is absolutely NO REASON to believe that Sunnis and Shia will continue to fight into perpetuity as you suggest because it is absolutely clear from the other countries in the region that it is not only possible, but likely, this can be accomplished.

In most of the countries you listed, the Shia are treated like they way minorities are treated in many countries.........poorly. The Shia's hatred for the Sunnis is intense but in most countries, they have no choice but to take the repression and abuse. However, they have a choice in Iraq and we are watching the expression of that choice. So to answer your question the current civil war could go on indefinitely.

Which of the countries I listed are able to exist peacefully with both Sunni and Shia populations?

What's the point...they are all one form of dictatorship or another...remove the ruler and they all descend into a state of chaos.

You were trying to make the case that this is something that is not going to happen in Iraq. And I want to know whether you believe it is possible at all, impossible, or what, based on the other countries with substantial populations of both Sunni and Shia?

Sure...bring in someone like saddam, or musharraf, or kohmeni, or the various forms of "non democratic" rulers in these countries and you have rule by terror. That's what we had in iraq...remove the fear, and you have chaos.
