Reagan had nothing more or less to do with it than every other president from WW II on. Of course, your disingenuous remark is to be expected. But had Bill Clinton been the "lucky one" to make the remark at the Wall, then you would have been claiming credit for it. Not likely....I am not nearly as partisan as you are nor as prone to fantasy. The truth, of course, is that Reagan defeated the Soviets on multiple levels, and the speech was just one aspect of it. But the speech shouldn't be discounted; it was a very bold statement that a Bill Clinton could not have conceivably made and in fact, only a president of real stature could have done made it. Reagan had real stature? Because he was in the movies? Do you ever listen to Reagan's male progeny? Those that are on both sides of the aisle? Neither are worth remembering. In my experience, some of the greatness of the parent is found in the child. But with these two guys, somehow that stature gene got lost in the shuffle. Frankly, I don't think it was ever there. Reagan was the greatest president of our lifetime because he had the vision, the self-confidence, and the commitment to end Soviet aggression and to do something about nuclear proliferation, which was, after all the Left's biggest issue in the late 80s. Your definition of greatness borders on the nonsensical.......and slightly criminal.Reagan's most important contribution, however, was to show that peace is accomplished one way only -- through strength. You don't get peace through appeasing your enemies. Yuparooni.......there's a lot of peace in Iraq.
