That is because of the echo chamber. They take the information and then "refine" it. Once they are done, you would swear they are using a different dictionary...

"Simple conclusions for simple minds!"

Well, this all goes back to the Reagan administration. The popular meme was those on the left just thought too hard. The simple answers were more likely to be correct. While on the surface, this seems to be a variant of Occam's Razor, they alway miss the caveat of OR that includes "covers all the facts". Their simpler answers usually require dumping most of the facts. Which puts them firmly in the camp of "wishful thinking". Ok, that could turn out right, like with the Soviet Union, but they had a consistent string of failures both before and afterwards. Which sort of suggests luck, but for The True Believers, it just means we haven't tried hard enough.
