<<<Thinking about our own first 20-30 years of our representative republic, I think Iraq has made amazing progress in the last 5. And not surprisingly, they have a long way to go.>>>

By any objective measure, Iraq, today, has very little in common with us today or 220 years ago.

Why can't we leave them alone and let them evolve in the way that is possible given their condition as they exist today.

There is no way, even for them, to know how they are going to evolve, what makes us think that we know better.

All we can do is offer them ourselves as a role model in such a way that they want to be like us. If they don't want to be like us, we can't force them.
