Not advocating for MORE economic control doesn't tell us that they want less or that they're even interested in government economic control as an issue. My best sense is that it's just not an issue, is below the radar, is just not part of the social conservative agenda. They may engage in mutual support with their paleo brethren but I don't think it's their issue. But, I admit I'm not close enough to that movement to know for sure.

I think your irony is applicable to the Republicans, in general, but not particularly to that subset.
