I don't believe the country is conservative. I believe the country is stupid, and the conservatives have been mining that motherload on the left side of the normal curve of intelligence with a solid mix of fear mongering and demonizing. Works great with the stupid, until they start to suffer..

Its an interesting perspective, and if true, a pretty effective one. Beyond that, all I can say the conservativism I imagine has fukked this country up nicely.
