Recently the idea of having Jerusalem under UN control as an international city has been allotted to several people even including Bill Clinton! Now the first person with a real plan like that was the Swedish Count Bernadotte, who sure enough got eliminated by the Stern Gang on Sept 16, 1948 in Jerusalem. Yitzhak Shamir - later premier of Israel - most likely was the master mind behind that assault. Also killed in the same terrorist attack was Andre Seraut, the French envoy to UN. Incidentally he had asked for the privilege to travel with Count Bernadotte because he personally wanted to thank him for his role in saving Seraut's (Jewish) wife by getting her out of a concentration camp, where the Nazis had locked her up.
