Uh, it wasn't a full preview, mas-- they managed to borrow some alpha silicon on a broken motherboard for an hour or two.

Besides, Intel has already stated it has improved single-thread IPC.

Did you hear about the superPi score?

Anand answers that in the comments section:

Interestingly enough, none of our standard CPU benchmarks are single threaded at all - even the most benign ones are multithreaded (including the games). I did run some single thread Cinebench numbers though:

Nehalem - 3015
Q9450 - 2396


Don't forget to ask where the server and HPC benchmarks are. With the move away from FSB the Nehalem gains might be even larger for Intel there than on the desktop.
