If al quaeda is 500 guys now but a few years ago folks in the muslim world were cheering them on, what do you think changed that situation?
#1 i dont believe they are 500 dudes with no power
#2 Any dimution in their power that you advance would have come from our efforts in afganistan and iraq. Since i dont consider iraq as relevant nor afganistan as a success, i dont get where your misguided optimism comes from.
Al quaeda is a dangerous adversary and what you propose is exactly the policy followed by clinton/bush which is do nothing pre-9/11. You might as well stick your head in the sand.
