I already agreed that Al Qaeda in Iraq has been weakened. But since Al Qaeda in Iraq didn't even exist before we invaded, it's hard to regard its weakening as a net positive.

You didn't, but the other people in the conversation going directly back from this post did, and it is the point I was arguing against.

Again, do you have any reliable evidence to show that Al Qaeda, the original one currently based in Pakistan, is not currently growing stronger?

Al Qaeda, is Al Qaeda to me. Which isn't saying that different parts of it can not be looked at, or reacted to differently, but Al Qaeda in Iraq, and Al Qaeda's groups elsewhere, are Al Qaeda.

In the tribal border areas of Pakistan Al Qaeda has gotten stronger.
