Refusing to see flaws and insisting that flaws aren't possible, now that is a huge problem.

If that were occurring that would be a problem, perhaps.

I don't know that it is a "problem", but the reason the Left is seen as "anti-American" is twofold IMO:

a) You blame America first. Some things are, legitimately, "America's chickens coming home to roost", I'm sure. But when you talk about 9/11, any terrorist activity, anything pertaining to the war in Iraq, America's chickens coming home to roost turn out to be anti-Americanism. And there is nothing you can do about it. It is what it is.

b) You refuse to credit America with the positives. This is huge. While you bash America for every little thing, rather than accept the election in 2000 with some modicum of dignity, you bash America because you didn't get the outcome you wanted. Rather than acknowledging you were defeated by a better candidate in '04, it is all about "swiftboating" -- as those there is some underhanded means of defeating the Constitution. In short, you bash America because you aren't in power.

George Will, commenting on his new book today, talked about an old black man, living in the South. The man, although having lived through the worst America has to offer, always views America in the positive terms of just how great it is here. He doesn't lay some Howard Zinn Bullshit View of History on everyone. He accepts America's negative past as part of its growing pains to get where it is today. This what a true American does. Not constantly bash the country for any little complaint you can muster.
