Republicans in the Senate this week did such a masterful job of picking the cap-and-trade bill apart with objections, yesterday Barbara Boxer of California was "pulling her hair out with frustration, " as one Republican leadership staffer put it.

I question this conclusion. That particular bill is so ugly, not to mention ill timed, that there are a lot of reasons for not supporting it regardless of one's general view of global climate change. I don't think there's enough evidence, at least not published info, to support that conclusion.

Reid looks ripe for a deserved early retirement from the leadership.
