refineries have been losing money in the last month or so.. look at their stocks.. demand for gasoline has taken its biggest drop since 70's.

Apparently people with several $billion to invest see an opportunity. I don't even see them asking for government subsidies for this. I'm just saying our governments should not stand in their way.

If all these refinery additions and expansions go forward, I think we'll end up with excess capacity. But we're over-concentrated in the vulnerable Gulf area, so it would provide a margin of safety.

Ultimately, I think the electric car will put a lot of refineries out of business.
