I bought my house for about $115k. If I sold at the peak I could have gotten well over $350k, would that have made me evil?

Things are not worth what they cost you, they are worth what people will pay for them.

Also

1 - Most of the policies that push oil and gas prices up get more support from the left than from either the right or from the oil companies.

2 - For the current situation in terms of supply and demand for oil, high oil and gasoline prices is a good thing not a bad thing. Force prices down and you get shortages and long gas lines instead. You push demand up, and you push supply down. You make the problem much worse.

3 - Also you seem to be very concerned about global warming. Well higher oil prices help reduce CO2 emissions.
