No, I mean that Obama only loses here if his campaign is as bad as Gore's, Dukakis's, or Kerry's.

Yes, and Obama being black is a disadvantage. However, it's not as much of a disadvantage to him as McCain's age is to McCain, and besides, I'd say it's likely that well over half of the people that wouldn't vote for a black person wouldn't vote for a Democrat anyway.
