Mike sounds like a decent citizen. A few years ago, my brother lost their dog. They went without for a year, maybe longer, then went out and got a beautiful blond lab. Now they complain about how she can't be left alone, or behind. This is a great dog, but she really crimps their desire to pick up and go on the spur of the moment. That's the main reason I never got another dog. I'm retired and thought I was going to travel. But, my 91 year old mother has anxiety attacks if I'm out of reach. She's my replacement "pet", I guess you could say.
