I think it would have more of an effect than any anti-discrimination legislation could possibly have.

I agree.

"One effect of an Obama presidency would be for kids of ANY race or background to be able to look to him and realize that ANYTHING is truly possible for them in this country."

Just like Smirk gave hope to the slackers who can barely pull a 2.0 that they too could be president, Obama speaks the same message to a different crowd.

Yeah, it's truly amazing. One effect of an Obama presidency would be for kids of ANY race or background to be able to look to him and realize that ANYTHING is truly possible for them in this country. It might still be difficult, with many unfair obstacles put in their way, but if they want it bad enough and do the work, it's POSSIBLE to get there.

It may be possible but it isn't very probable. Obama would be an extraordinary man no matter what color he is.....but the fact that he is black makes him very rare indeed. I read that it was a big deal electing the Catholic Kennedy to the presidency, and it was predicted that in the future Catholic presidents will become much more commonplace. However, to my knowledge, we have not elected another Catholic to the presidency since Kennedy.

This country has spurts of progress only to revert back to type.
