I thought he was a terrible public speaker, though, and really thought Gore might be able to pull it out for that reason. But honestly, Gore was no competition, from competency POV. I had always believed Gore was a goof, and I think I was proven right about that. Obama has much more smarts and thats important too. There are different kinds of "smarts". I'm sure Obama's as intelligent as the rest of us. And hopefully, his knowledge of the law is consistent with that. But he obviously lacks fundamental skills (e.g., negotiating) that you have to have if you want to be president. More than anything, I believe Obama is disqualified, however, due to his ultra-ultra extreme liberalism, which is out of touch with most of America.
