It was a failure by its own promises, it was supposed to get to 10 Ghz and it didn't even make it half the way. Anyway he didn't do much on P4 most of his work was on P6(P-PRO,P-II,P-III) and he criticised it himself saying it was basically a marketing gimmick they were forced to make run well. I liked his lecture a lot but he was humble in it unlike you who are trying to carry his torch for him higher than he would.
