A written pledge to secure the borders & enforce immigration laws would win it for McCain. He says he learned a lesson, but Conservatives and other Repubs need something more concrete from Mr reach-across-the-aisle.

A third party move would have had to get off it's butt at least a year ago, raised some money and got some recognition.

It is far too late to nominate someone other than McCain at the convention. A third party should make a serious attempt for the next election. At this point Bob Barr only offers to strip many votes from McCain and ensure an Obama election.
