I am a very private person and other people think its odd that I am not available by phone most of the time. I have a cell phone that stays in the car. I consider it a piece of emergency equipment and except for special times like traveling, it remains off. The phone at home is unplugged except when I need to make a call, once or twice a week. I also check messages daily. "The "kids today" that feel that they are "disconnected" if they don't have their cell phones at hand to take every text message may one day ENVY us old fogies that grew up with the "luxury" of isolation." Intentional solitude is different than feeling isolated. I treasure my alone time.
