I've always thought in beautiful areas like Hawaii a monorail would work well. Something about being up in the air 40-50 feet makes the trip more enjoyable.

That was the idea behind the People [Mugger] Mover in Detroit.

The cost vs standard light rail is prohibitive. The population density required to make public transportation work is just too high to justify here. But the attraction by various special interests is too big to stop it.

The money is in installing it. The people opposing it just don't have a chance.
