"Actually, as I pointed out, all the information we have available is that he was getting off the helicopter TO GET A BEER. "

See, that is the point I've been trying to make.

This is just spin.

He was supposed to help set up a radio station on that mountain top. He also knew there were some people there he knew. So, instead of your spin that he had made a special stop or something, it appears as if he was just combining two things because of proximity.

This is what I mean by a flat out lie. Coulter and others took existing information and spun it.

And you have bought into it.

Per my link, the grenade was someone else's. They had stepped forward and stated it by at least the early 1990s.

So, no. The information you claim that is all we have is mostly spin. And it is spun in such a way that it is pretty clear the intent is to cast Max in the worst possible light.

The "15 miles from the combat zone" is another one. The combat zone claimed is the one where Max had participated earlier in the day. The mountain top where the radio relay was to be set up came under attack while they were working on it. So, clearly the area in question was also in a combat zone. Which makes sense, what would be the point of setting up a relay station in an area where the enemy wasn't?

..he was getting off a helicopter and not getting a beer.

Actually, as I pointed out, all the information we have available is that he was getting off the helicopter TO GET A BEER.

He was 15 miles away from any combat zone.

I have in no way diminished the man's service and I certainly give any soldier more respect than you and other liberals.

Just stating the facts, which CJ had distorted (perhaps out of ignorance, not necessarily by intent).

If you were such a friend of the military, you would condemn what Coulter said even if what she said were true which it isn't. How dare anyone say someone deserved to get seriously maimed because they didn't pick up a grenade properly while going to get a beer? I don't care if he was planning to party; no one.....absolutely no one........deserves to be crippled for the rest of his life due to an exploding grenade.

And if you were half the American that you claim to be you would condemn what that despicable, twisted woman said. However, none of you.....not one damn one of you righties........has the cojones to shut her up. I like to think of her as the reincarnation of Tokyo Rose.
