The housing/financial crisis is not a big deal. It was made into a big deal to help democrats to compete in this year's election.

I think there is a great deal of truth to this. We go through periods where people get over extended, lenders are complicit in allowing it to happen, and these are problems the economy has to work through.

But the Dems learned when Clinton defeated Bush -- which would never have happened had Clinton not been the best liar in the country -- that you can talk an economy down and get yourself elected in the process. This is precisely what they're doing now, but the so-called "sub-prime crisis" is giving them fodder for it.

They'll howl at how "high" the 5.5% unemployment rate is -- but forget that in 1982, just after Reagan took office, it approached 10%. 4-5% is essentially full employment, so it is a very small uptick at this point. Still, they try to make it more than it is.

As one who remembers how tough it had gotten for many when the misery index peaked under Carter (even though I didn't feel that pain), 5.5% looks pretty much okay to me.

If you couldn't pay for your BMW, why should you expect the govt to bail you out? The fact that you couldn't pay for the BMW you shouldn't have bought is not a "crisis".

I see.......you still don't understand. It must be great going through life not understanding most important issues but hoping the nation solves them without your input.
