That is assuming he ever was a liberal. One thing I noted about the born agains pretty early on is that they tended to over-exaggerate how "bad" they were before they turned to Christ. The guy who gave a talk to our football team when the coach was recruiting for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes when I was in the 7th grade was a perfect example. He kept emphasizing how he chewed tobacco on one side of his mouth, drank whiskey through the other and cussing out the middle before he found God. Now, in East Texas, especially during that time, you learned pretty quickly that chewing tobacco, or dipping snuff, and drinking anything, much less something as strong as whiskey means you will pretty soon be puking your guts out. And any cussing will be the result of the puking.

So it was pretty obvious he was trying to game our heads. Well, at least to me. There were several who decided to witness after his talk.

That was the first time I got creeped out about religion...
