It is as if you think the access pattern is completely and utterly random within various working set sizes. Only in that case would some of your conclusions be justified. Given that virtually no code behaves like this

You are wrong as I have shown by the OFFICIAL SpecCPU/JBB submissions which explicitly disable prefetching. In fact the only apps that really have a predictable memory pattern are streaming/encoding/media applications and Intel is already strong in these. What I think is backed up by the evidence unlike you who is claiming something that is not backed up by any evidence.
