$1 million only? Such a thing would be worth a LOT more than that. I'd better get out to the shed and invent a fillet steak DNA profile and solution to grow it in. It should be really easy; easier than the GSRS [TM] [Graviton Spin Reversal System].

Some stem cells, some angiogenesis, a pump and I should be in business.

Imagine how efficient that would be.

No having cows tramping around damaging the grass. No growing hooves, horns, tails, ribs and other unnecessary components. No having to herd them around, take them to abattoirs and go to a lot of trouble to get them into packaging.

The cost of producing a kilogram of useless leg is about the same as producing a kilogram of high value fillet steak. So I'll be able to sell steaks for next to nothing.

With coal and methane as amino acid feedstocks, I won't even need to buy wheat or other cellulose-based crops.

It's ridiculous that it's the 21st century and we still have to chase animals around to get food - we are not much better than hyenas except that we at least put fences around them and use dogs to herd them instead of doing the running ourselves.

Hmmm, I'm thinking eggs must be a good thing to grow too = maybe a lot easier than fillet steak, but on a dollars per kilogram basis, the returns for the steak looks a lot better.
