You guys did a number on kerry and others back on 04

Whoa. "You guys"?

I never bashed Kerry's service. I complained about Kerry coming back here and bashing HIS OWN service AND bashing the soldiers he served with. While his service was honorable, what he did when he got back was no different than what Parsons did on this thread.

As to Cleland, in the exchange over the weekend I repeatedly stated that the cause and nature of his injuries were totally immaterial. I believe Clelend is a great American for his service and in no way denigrated him as Parsons did McCain. Never once have I made any remark that would denigrate Cleland in any way.

My disagreement was with CJ over the characterization of Cleland's injuries. The Left attempted to use the injuries to bolster his political credibility, and that was wrong. The entire argument over the weekend was about the facts. And even though I may despise Ann Coulter for making a the remarks, her statements were factual. That was what the argument was about.

I will reiterate my position here. Cleland served dutifully, and for that you absolutely must give him the respect he is due. How he received his injuries is absolutely immaterial in my view.

Lying and misleading about it, for political gain, is not appropriate, however. Politics is a dirty game, but when the Left started that, they should have known someone on the Right -- Coulter or someone else, would catch them and confront them.

I would much prefer that Coulter had just let it go than to drag this decent man (who happens to be on the wrong side politically) through the mud.
