Actually I thought the speech he gave on race in response to the Wright thing was one of the best I've ever heard from anyone on anything.

Oh, my, aren't you impressionable?

JF, > Actually I thought the speech he gave on race in response to the Wright thing was one of the best I've ever heard from anyone on anything.

Overall, I thought it was a well thought-out speech, even though I disagreed with some of the fundamental assumptions in it.

He stumbled later on, however, when Rev. Wright proved he couldn't keep his mouth shut, and later on when Father Pfleger did his thing. That was when Obama had to start throwing people under the bus, which obviously made him VERY uncomfortable.

There's a lot Obama is learning on the job, and a lot he will learn. Every candidate and every new president has to do that. For example, Obama made hints that he may support stronger antitrust enforcement while he was campaigning in Oregon. Someone ought to have reminded him that Intel is Oregon's largest employer.
