I think it goes hand in hand in Africa. In most countries, being Arab means merely being an Arab (primary or only) speaker. Like the Arabs of northern Sudan - they are blacks who lost their original language and adopted Arabic and Islam.

I don't much care what his ancestors were. I'm more concerned that he's a leftwing idiot.
