The US "wants" a strong dollar, but isn't prepared to do what is necessary to earn it. They need to raise interest rates, and fiscally, they have to get control of the mounting debt. And they will have to curtail spending drastically, especially on the military. Then there is the huge overhang of the unfunded liabilities.

Talk is cheap, and maybe it works sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time.
