i choose to ignore the noise, at least for now, perhaps for just a few days, until either the tune changes, or the steps fall more into line with reality, that us of a cannot afford to 'defend' the dollar and 'fight' inflation, becaue us of a can realistically only afford to pretend to be defending and fighting, while retreating with face forward

There is zero they can do. Somewhere between US$1.5 and US$3 Trillion trade every day in the currency markets. The US has perhaps US$70 Billion in foreign currency reserves. That would last less than 3 minutes in a "defense" of the US$.
The US foreign debts exceed US$13 Trillion.

The US gold in Ft. Knox might add US$300 billion [if it is there. Many have called for an audit for decades, but the government refuses.], but if they throw that into the "defense of the US$", that would be the signal for the entire world to sell US dollars

They can easily defend the US Dollar.
I just don't think they can stomach the idea of 10% Fed Fund rates.....
