"I was simply remarking on the article about the libertarian convention."

But, what was your REMARK?

(All I remember you saying was that you were frightened... beyond that I don't recall you expressing any opinions, or making any statements.)

"The article represented the convention as if it were a carnival of freaks."

Yes, it certainly did. (But, consider the source!)

My take-away from the very hard fought (six ballots!!!!!!!) political convention was that there was very nearly an even split between the libertarians who were more concerned about taxes and deficits (libertarian converts from the GOP, the Barr folks...) and libertarians as much concerned about other aspects of Big Government (social/puritanical mandates from Big Government, libertarian converts from the Dems and such... long-time libertarian author Mary Ruwart, and the libertarian/liberals backing Gravel)... although *both* sides --- as with Ron Paul's forces --- are opposed to deficit-financed foreign adventurism.

To me, that shows that the Party, and it's ideals, is a *growing force* as folks from all over the conventional 'left/right' political spectrum are flocking to the personal liberty and anti-Authoritarianism ideals of the Libertarians.

Ideals which CANNOT properly be measured on a simplistic 'left/right' axis... but to which you must turn to the 'North/South' axis to see, the Libertarian/Authoritarian axis of political beliefs.
