To say Bush is part of the rarefied rich is simply a distortion!

Apart from the old Bush family money, the Bush, Sr. oil money and the sweetheart deals Junior was levered into, I guess they aren't super rich. The clan can't be worth more than what, tens of millions, maybe a couple hundred million dollars all told? Cheney is worth that much on his own.

I wasn't talking about issues so your other point is irrelevant. I was talking about attitudes and backgrounds and how people are shaped. If you can't see Bush as a rich kid, then Rove succeeded with you. Congratulations. Bush will drop by your place for a beer once he is out of office, because he plans to spend all his time with ordinary folks just shootin' the breeze.

I'm sure you won't have to pay up for the $5000 a plate fundraiser he will speaking at when he actually gets near your city, if he ever does.

The Bushes and the Kennedys all live in a different world from you and me. That is patently obvious.

Bobcatbear, you must be joking!
Of course he is a part of the rarified rich!!! He hasn't succeeded as well as he might, perhaps, but oh, give him some time!
Bush has never been a part of the lower struggling middle class.
You may try to draw distinctions between the Kennedys and the Bushes but you are in an entirely different stratosphere!

How about un-rarified rich? What's the difference? They leave office with no financial worries while many are mangled by their policies.

<<<It is statements like that make me wonder just where you are on the spectrum. Bush - rarefied rich? Yeah right - compare his life style to say Teddy! Why can't the left be satisfied with legitimate issues?

To say Bush is part of the rarefied rich is simply a distortion! >>>

Ted Kennedy and George W Bush are good examples of American Aristocracy. George W. Bush is third generation whereas Ted Kennedy is only second generation. Both are not the brightest in their respective families.

Whereas both are black sheep in their respective families and relatively lazy in demeanor, Ted went populist but Bush strayed into an incoherent socio-economic direction.

Ted's populist stand is much easier to understand and much easier for the left to rally behind and try to use to their advantage.

But, the Right really have a tough time trying to get behind a flaky standard barer. You guys were dealt a bad hand.
