Oh, bullshit. ANWR, even if fully exploited to the limits that we think it could produce, which is likely a lot less that what it actually can produce if history is any guide, would still only be a small fraction of world demand.

Nobody is talking about "world demand". We're talking about producing enough to get us through a short-term crisis IN THE UNITED STATES.

That is because they are run by accountants. They only look from quarter to quarter. Given that it takes a minimum of 5 years to develop a vehicle, they are prone to be taken by surprise.

No, that is because the unions have destroyed the US auto industry and now prevent it from being competitive.

only be a small fraction of world demand.

Thats no argument for failing to use it, nor for putting drilling bans on most of our offshore acreage.

In addition, given the fact that most American refineries can't deal with the heavy, sour crude that ANWR has,

Some American refineries can handle heavy sour crude. And we could build more refineries, couldn't we?

But what I'm wondering is how the heck you know what kind of oil is under ANWR, if any, w/o drilling there? The world oil industry would sure love to know if you have some other means of figuring out how much and what is under virgin terrain. And frankly, you have a chance to become fabulously wealthy if you can prove this capability.

Oh, bullshit.

Has recently taken over as your preferred argument, CJ.

Shame on you, man.
You should be too clever and well educated to get down to such cellar levels.
