John, I agree with your sentiments entirely. My only point is that we shouldn't be getting distracted by the CO2 issue. Increases of CO2 in the atmosphere is a relatively minor and benign result of burning fossil fuels.

There are plenty of real problems that can be solved which will make a difference to the upcoming energy crisis but carbon trading and CO2 sequestration have little impact on the real problems and offer no solution.
