He is certainly not one of the very rich.

You have your definitions, I have mine. The point, if you will read what I am writing instead of falling back on the same response over and over, is that the Bushes are wealthy enough that they have no need to be concerned about their economic future or anyone else's.

This point originated in a discussion about how Bush has decided his real legacy will be decided by historians decades from now. He doesn't care what anyone thinks about him largely because he can afford not to, and hasn't done it much in the past either. That is the "issue" in question.

It doesn't matter that there are much wealthier people than Bush. With $20 million you live where you want, do what you want, and will never worry about your future security, ever. Not to mention his post-presidency income will be much larger, and he has a substantial inheritance coming his way, tens of millions more.

That is "rarefied" compared to most Americans. I know you disagree so you don't have to make the same post a third or fourth time in response.

Is his home a ranch? Who cares? Rarefied rich - certainly not yet.

The Bush money is old money and lives and breaths in those circles. It's a vastly different world from the one you and I live in. With, at best, distorted views of what makes you and I tick.

I've had short periods of my life in which I've mixed and mingled with those sorts. Some are nice and some are not; GWB has/had a reputation of being one of the nicer ones.

But their views of us are largely not for public display. Sometimes Barbara Bush slips and lets it out as witness her comment about the Katrina survivors who wound up in Houston.
