I'd like to believe the world will be peaceful and everything just be hunkydorry....however Don't worry KLP .. If we can keep it together for another 30 years we'll have blown through all the remaining fossil fuels .. Then the next war can be fought with bearskins and knives .. Triff ..

Didn't work for Jimmy Carter -- the Shah was out, Khomeini in... the embassy attack and the hostages, which remained an unanswered act of war... Danny Ortega takeover of Nicaragua, leading to a brutal war in Central America.... the Helsinki Accord, which de facto recognized Soviet annexations in Eastern Europe (and possibly helped free them to meddle in Africa and elsewhere, and to invade Afghanistan). Jimmy's main foreign policy guru was Zbigniew Brzezinski, who - believe it or not - survived as a respected authority, and is currently one of Obama's mentors.

Do you trust Russia and China not to attack the US or our allies? Do you think that we need a substitute for the F-22? Or will the world suddenly become peaceful under Obama? I don't completely trust any country. But I can't see a major conflict with the former cold war enemies. If Russia continues on it's current demographic path it will be an empty country with a lot of oil money in banks and nothing to spend it on. They can't maintain their shrinking population level with immigrants because nobody wants to live there. China is becoming too prosperous to risk losing that in a high intensity war. We won't need a substitute for the F-22 for a considerable time. The world will be more dangerous under the Appeaser.
