I agree with your point in a previous post that the fact Bush bought the property right before he ran for the presidency is the telling bit. If he loved clearing brush so much why didn't he have a "ranch" when he was governor? He had all that money from his earlier ventures, he could have picked up a couple hundred acres for a song and escaped from Austin every weekend if he wanted to. The only brush he sees after he leaves office will be the rough on the 14th fairway at one of the top North Dallas country clubs, LOL.
