Most people don't realize that the price of oil impacts the prices of chemical products......oil is a basic feedstock to the industry. I watched an interview with the president of DOW after the announcement of across the board 20% price increases because of rising oil prices. He made nasty comments about the lack of an energy policy in this country, lack of presidential leadership, etc.

What interested me the most was his statement that our lack of an energy policy is making some US companies less competitive in the world marketplace. He didn't explain himself though, which I would have been interested in hearing.
